On Tuesday, Kelvin Sampson and the Houston Cougars added a massive name to the Class of 2025 with the addition of five-star center Chris Cenac Jr.
Cenac, a 6-10 center from Link Academy, became the highest-rated prospect in program history to commit to Houston Basketball.
Coming out of Link Academy in the Class of 2025, Cenac is listed as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s fourth-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the top-ranked player at his position and the top-ranked player in the the state of Missouri.
“While Cenac has emerged at a rapid rate in recent months, he is really still just scratching the surface of his potential and has as much untapped long-term upside as maybe any prospect in the national class,” 247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein wrote. “What is particularly intriguing about Cenac is the versatility and scope of his natural ability. He checks all the boxes from size to physical tools to budding skill.”
“Those movement and athletic tools give him a lot of budding versatility on the defensive end of the floor,” Finkelstein continued. “He’s shown clear potential both as a rim protector and being able to move laterally away from the basket, enabling him to defend a couple of different positions and projecting as versatile in ball-screen coverages as well.”
With his commitment, Cenac joins a loaded recruiting class at Houston, a group that features a pair of five-stars in Cenac and Isiah Harwell, an impressive four-star in Kingston Flemings, and an emerging three-star Bryce Jackson.
