On Tuesday afternoon, Kyle Whittingham and the Utah Utes added a talented player in the transfer portal with an All-Conference defensive back heading to Salt Lake City, Utah.
Furman cornerback Jaylen Moson was the latest player to join the Utes in the spring portal window after being named to the All-SoCon freshman team.
In 2024 with the Paladins, Moson recorded 16 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception. While the numbers may not jump out at face value, he accomplished the feat in just five games played, showing his sizeable impact despite playing in just a handful of games.
Coming out of Kennesaw Mountain High School in the Class of 2023, Moson was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 2054th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 179th-ranked player at his position and the 191st-ranked player in the state of Georgia.
Initially, Moson received offers from 12 different programs and chose the Paladins over offers from UCF, FAU, Buffalo, Army, Georgia Tech, Tulsa, Akron, and more.
With the commitment, Utah added its 17th player of the offseason through the transfer portal, a group that checks in as the Big 12’s eighth-ranked group and the nation’s 38th-ranked unit.
