The 2025 NFL Draft is just over 24 hours away, and everyone will be locked in to see what their teams decide to do with their first-round picks on Thursday night.
Colorado football fans will be watching to see where their superstar talents are headed, too, with Travis Hunter likely headed to Cleveland and Shedeur Sanders projected to go somewhere in the first round.
It might not be a foregone conclusion that Sanders goes that early, though, as it appears he’s not exactly killing it in the interview portion of the pre-draft process.
On Tuesday evening, some intriguing comments about Sanders were revealed via Tom Pelissero, and they’re about as critical as it gets. The worst part? It came from a longtime NFL coach.
According to Pelissero, an assistant coach who sat in on Sanders’ interview said it was “the worst formal interview I’ve ever been in in my life. He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. … But the biggest thing is, he’s not that good.”
He wasn’t the only detractor of Sanders, either, as a tenured AFC executive added in some revealing testimony as well.
“It didn’t go great in our interview. He wants to dictate what he’s going to do and what’s best for him. He makes you feel small.”
One of the most important traits to have as a franchise quarterback in the NFL is the innate ability to lead a locker room and be the guy that everyone wants to fight for.
Unfortunately, it feels like Sanders has a lot of work to do in that department. His physical tools will likely see him land somewhere rather quickly, especially with the lack of depth in this class. He’d better find a way to adapt, though, because from here on out, he won’t be answering to just his father.
