As Oklahoma gears up for a Women’s College World Series semifinal clash with Texas Tech, Sooners head coach Patty Gasso took a moment to highlight the remarkable job being done in the opposing dugout.
Gasso offered strong praise for Texas Tech head coach Gerry Glasco, who has orchestrated one of the most impressive turnarounds in the country this season.
“He’s an amazing coach, he really is,” Gasso told media on Sunday. “Some of the stuff he pulls out of his hat is pretty epic. He always does it the right way and I really enjoy going up against him, because you know you’re going to have a battle. I was also a member of the Big 12 for 30 years, so to see a Big 12 team get in here that’s a new name is really, really cool for the Big 12.”
Gasso also gave a nod to Glasco’s team for making their best run in program history during Glasco’s first season.
“He’s a phenomenal coach,” Gasso said during a WCWS media session. “I’ve watched how he’s handled this program in such a short amount of time, and it’s extremely impressive. You can see his fingerprints all over their approach.”
Glasco, in his first year with the Red Raiders, has guided Texas Tech to its first-ever Women’s College World Series (WCWS) appearance. The Red Raiders have stunned the softball world with their postseason run, which included upsets of national seeds LSU and Washington.
