He got Bill Self to bark into a microphone.
During his Senior Night speech inside Allen Fieldhouse, Council showed exactly why teammates and fans love him. The guard, clearly emotional during the ceremony, admitted that the speeches happening before his had already gotten to him.
“I was crying before my speech even started,” Council said.
That’s when he turned to star freshman Darryn Peterson and asked for some help.
Council explained that he looked over at Peterson and told him, “You all have to come out there with me,” wanting his teammates beside him as he tried to power through the emotional moment. When the moment came during the speech, Council finished his remarks and brought Self into the moment, and the legendary head coach delivered, barking into the microphone in front of the Allen Fieldhouse crowd, sending the arena into a frenzy.
