It’s a big season in front of Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears.
After a lackluster 2025, Aranda and his staff are on the hot seat this fall. Legacy passer and Las Vegas Raiders signee Sawyer Robinson led the Bears through the air with 309.6 passing yards per game, but just five wins showed up on the schedule as Baylor surrendered too much defensively to earn a bowl bid.
A 48-45 comeback to defeat Kansas State was the highlight of the season, and 30 different players exited the program this offseason. San Diego State transfer Louis Brown IV, though, arrived on campus in 2025 eager to steer things around.
Baylor offensive coordinator Jake Spavital took time on Friday to share his thoughts on Brown during a visit with reporters in a video shared by SicEm365:
Brown, a native of Los Angeles, began his career at Colorado State in 2022, and later transferred to San Diego State in 2024, where he posted a career-high 620 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 38 catches. Coming to Waco, Texas, last year, Brown most of his senior season due to a injury sustained last spring.
The good news for Brown, exercising a redshirt last year, returns for his final season of college football, and he’ll have an exciting new name, Florida transfer DJ Lagway, keying up some passes for him this season. Lagway completed 213 passes for 2,264 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last year as a Gator.
If Lagway can settle into his new receiving corps, Brown might just be able to put the proper stamp on his career ahead in time for the NFL Draft.
