Kansas State is joining a growing trend across the Big 12, as the Wildcats are set to announce a football jersey patch sponsorship agreement with Purple Wave Auction.
Athletic director Gene Taylor announced that Kansas State has reached a deal with the Manhattan-based company, making the Wildcats the latest Big 12 program to capitalize on one of college athletics’ newest revenue streams. The agreement was brokered by Learfield and will place the Purple Wave Auction logo on K-State football uniforms beginning this season.
The Wildcats become the fifth Big 12 school to secure a jersey patch sponsor, joining BYU, Oklahoma State, Kansas and West Virginia. As athletic departments continue searching for new sources of revenue in the evolving college sports landscape, jersey patch sponsorships have quickly emerged as an attractive option.
What is Purple Wave Auction?
For Kansas State, the partnership is a natural fit. Purple Wave Auction has long been a recognizable brand throughout Kansas and the Midwest, specializing in online auctions for construction, agriculture, transportation and government equipment. Aligning with a company that already has deep roots in the region gives K-State a sponsorship that is likely to resonate with its fan base and business community alike.
The timing is also significant. Schools across the country are adjusting to a new era of college athletics that features increased spending commitments tied to revenue sharing, NIL opportunities and growing operational costs. Every new revenue source matters, and jersey patch deals offer schools a chance to generate additional sponsorship dollars without making major changes to the game-day experience.
Kansas State has consistently been viewed as one of the Big 12’s most stable athletic departments under Taylor’s leadership. Now, the Wildcats are embracing another modern business strategy that is becoming commonplace across college football.
As more schools look to maximize sponsorship opportunities, the Big 12 continues to be at the forefront of innovation. With Kansas State now on board, nearly half a dozen conference programs have embraced jersey patch advertising, and that number could continue to grow in the months and years ahead.
