BYU will have to finish Saturday night’s Big 12 matchup against TCU without two of its biggest stars. ESPN reported during the broadcast that running back LJ Martin and linebacker Isaiah Glasker will not return to the game after both suffered injuries in the first half. Martin was ruled out with a right ankle injury, while Glasker was also ruled out after leaving the game following a hit during an interception return.

The injuries are significant for a BYU team that entered Saturday ranked No. 10 in the country and undefeated at 3-0.

LJ Martin and Isaiah Glasker Importance

Martin is one of the most important players in the Cougars’ offense. The senior running back entered the TCU game after rushing for a season-high 176 yards and three touchdowns in BYU’s 41-23 win over Colorado State. He rushed for 1,305 yards last season and was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.

Glasker, meanwhile, is one of the leaders of BYU’s defense and entered the season as one of six Cougars named to the Senior Bowl Top 300 watch list.

Losing both players is another blow to a BYU roster that has already dealt with several injuries early this season, including starting offensive tackle Andrew Gentry.

Now the immediate concern becomes how serious Martin’s ankle injury is and whether either player could miss additional time beyond Saturday.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
