The glorious game of hockey and the magic of Bedlam are here.
Oklahoma State and former Big 12 foe Oklahoma are scheduled for a one-of-a-kind matchup between the schools’ ice hockey club teams at Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2027. The game becomes the latest in a long line of hockey games held on college football playing surfaces; Michigan State and Penn State notably played in front of 74,000-plus fans in Ann Arbor earlier this year.
The on-campus matchup comes after OSU bested the Sooners 13-2 at the BOK Center in Tulsa earlier in February during a Division II national championship run by the Cowboys in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. Florida Gulf Coast defeated OSU 3-2 in overtime at the Centene Community Ice Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Cowboys, led by head coach Jared Erickson and team president Colleen Harvey, finished 27-2-0 overall as a member of the Men’s West Division (ACHA Division II).
“This is a historic event that reflects the remarkable growth of Cowboy Hockey in recent years,” OSU athletic director Chad Weiberge said. “Our students, alumni, fans, community and state will be able to see on full display the bold innovation of OSU Hockey and watch Bedlam in Boone Pickens Stadium.”
The hockey matchup arrives amid the end of the Bedlam football series, which ended in 2023 with a 27-24 Cowboy victory as Oklahoma walked out the door to the SEC beginning in 2024.
