Texas Lands Five-Star Quarterback for 2022 Class

It only took a few weeks for new Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian to find his quarterback for the class of 2022.
Since arriving in Austin in January, Steve Sarkisian had five-star quarterback Maalik Murphy out of Gardena, California as his top target and he just landed him on Saturday afternoon.
After the current Ohio State commit Quinn Ewers withdrew his pledge from the Longhorns back in October, Texas was left searching for a quarterback for the 2022 class but got their man today.
It is unclear if Texas will take another quarterback for this cycle, but this was important as it was the first west coast commit for Steve Sarkisian who has deep ties in that area.
Maalik Murphy is ranked as a five-star prospect according to 247 sports and is the second ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2022 class. He also is a top 75 player overall. With Murphy on board, the Longhorns currently have four players committed for the 2022 cycle.
This is obviously a huge get for Texas and Steve Sarkisian and it will be interesting to see how his first full year of recruiting will go.
