Cedric Harden Jr. is a rising junior at Cedar Hill High School just outside of Dallas, Texas. Harden participated in the Elite 11 quarterback camp at Southlake High School in Carroll, Texas, on April 18.
Harden already has an offer from a Big 12 school, Kansas. But, he has two other offers, both from Power 5 schools in the ACC and the Big Ten, per 247Sports.com. Even with all the changes at Kansas, Harden said he still intends to visit the campus.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback, who is part of the Class of 2023, plays for one of the powers of Texas high school football. He was mostly a backup last season for Cedar Hill, as the program reached the Texas 6A Division II state championship game. Katy won the game, 51-14. Harden took some time to talk with Heartland College Sports after the camp.
How was the camp today?
The camp was pretty good. There was a lot I learned and a lot I can grow from.
What was the biggest takeaway for you today?
I’d say stepping. You know, how we throw while we’re moving around in the pocket. That’s the biggest thing.
So, I know there have been some changes at Kansas, but you do have an offer from them. What do you think of the Jayhawks?
When I first got the offer, I did my research on the program and things like that. I just like the program. I need to go on a visit. Once I go on my visit, I can get more information. But right now, I like it — the facilities, the coaching staff, all of it.
Hoping to get up there in the summer?
Yeah, I’ve got to. I’ve got to get up there.
You hitting anywhere else besides Kansas?
I just got a Georgia Tech offer, and Illinois, too. I hope to go visit them too.
So, what’s the big thing you need to improve on between now and the fall?
I need to loosen up on the ball. I’ve been holding it too tight. I need to get more relaxed in the pocket, too.
