Baker Mayfield Requests Trade, Browns ‘Not Accommodating His Request’

It appears that things are going to get ugly in Cleveland after the Browns let it be known that they were interested in Texans’ QB Deshaun Watson earlier this week.
The Browns drafted Baker Mayfield with the first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and have been more successful than they have in decades with him on the roster. However, it appears that things have gone sour in “The Land.”
Today, it was announced that Mayfield has officially requested a trade from the Browns, but the franchise isn’t interested in “accommodating his request” at this time.
Mayfield told ESPN today that “it’s in the mutual interest of both sides” to move on and that “the relationship is too far gone to mend.”
This comes after it was reported yesterday that Cleveland wants “an adult” at quarterback, throwing not-so-subtle shade at the fourth-year quarterback. Listen to Chris Mortenson expand upon what he is hearing from the Browns.
It doesn’t sound like things are going to break off smoothly for either side at this point and most times they don’t. However, given the public figure that Mayfield has become in such a short time, this will be in the spotlight until it is resolved. What makes this entire situation even more comical, is that it was announced today that the Browns aren’t in the running for Deshaun Watson at this point, meaning that the entire tirade that started all of this, isn’t even happening now. Yikes.
