The Baylor Bears have been on an absolute tear on the recruiting trail and the continued that trend today as they picked up a commitment from 2023 three-star safety DJ Coleman.
Coleman, listed at 6-0, 191 pounds, committed to Baylor over Indiana, Florida State, UTSA, Navy and Louisiana-Monroe among 16 offers.
The Bears offered their newest commitment on June 18th after a standout performance at a Baylor summer camp that elicited a quick offer from BU safeties coach Ronnie Wheat.
“It means a lot,” Coleman said of the Baylor offer. “This is a big time program and honored to be wanted to be a part of it.”
After the offer, Coleman planned a return to Waco and went for an unofficial visit on June 22 to see the campus and meet the rest of the Baylor staff, and then committed the following day.
With Coleman’s commitment, the Bears are now at 15 pledges and holding steady at 12th in the country in recruiting rankings.
According to 247Sports, Coleman has an 86-grade and is slotted as the 63rd best safety prospect in the nation and 119th best player in the state of Texas. The 247Sports Composite rankings have him as the 71st best safety in the nation and 156th best in the state of Texas.
