Three Big 12 Schools in Running for 2024 Recruit David Castillo

NCAA Basketball: Oklahoma State at Texas Tech

Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State are all in the running for 2024 basketball recruit David Castillo, who will announce his decision on April 19.

On3.com reported that Castillo was set to announce his decision next week.

Castillo is known to have taken official visits to those three Big 12 schools, and reportedly has scholarship offers on the table from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Florida and LSU, among others.

Castillo is a 6-foot-1 junior from Bartlesville, Okla., who is considered the No. 1 recruit in Oklahoma. The guard, who 247Sports.com considers to be a combo guard, is ranked No. 4 at the position and No. 32 nationally. He is considered a four-star player.

Per 247Sports, Castillo went on his visit to Oklahoma State back October. He went to Kansas State in January and Kansas in February.

As he is a 2024 recruit, he can commit any time he wants but he cannot sign until November during the early-signing period.

Oklahoma State would love nothing more than to keep the Oklahoma native home. The Cowboys are coming off a 20-win season but failed to reach the NCAA Tournament. The Cowboys reached the quarterfinals of the NIT for the second time under coach Mike Boynton Jr.

Kansas State being in the running should be no surprise after winning 26 games. The Wildcats are coming off a magical season under first-year coach Jerome Tang, one in which the Wildcats reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament and turned guard Markquis Nowell and forward Keyontae Johnson into national stars.

Kansas won 28 games, the Big 12 regular-season title and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The defending champions were without head coach Bill Self for the postseason after he experienced a health emergency during the Big 12 Tournament.
