Oklahoma State quarterback Gunnar Gundy, son of Cowboys’ head coach Mike Gundy, has opted to enter the transfer portal, according to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer.
Gunnar, a redshirt sophomore from Stillwater (OK), played in three games this season and completed 61.8% of his attempts for 202 yards and one touchdown.
Gundy walked on for the Cowboys ahead of the 2021 season despite receiving FBS scholarship offers to go elsewhere. To begin the 2023 season, Gunnar was part of a three-man race for the starting quarterback job, splitting game reps between he, Alan Bowman, and Garrett Rangel.
With Bowman out, Garrett Rangel and Zane Flores are expected to compete for the starting job in 2024, leaving the youngest Gundy to explore his options.
As a member of the 2020 recruiting class, Gundy received offers from Eastern Michigan and Toledo, but will now hope that his experience at Oklahoma State will pay dividends by drawing more interest in the transfer portal. Gunnar is a graduate transfer with at least two years of eligibility remaining.
