Former TCU Wide Receiver Cordale Russell Transfers to Colorado
While the transfer portal provides the opportunity for teams to lose key players through outgoing departures, it also has the ability to help a team bring in key players each offseason.
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes recently added their second player of the day through the transfer portal with the commitment of former TCU wide receiver Cordale Russell.
Despite Russell not seeing the field in 2023 as a freshman, the former four-star prospect is a massive grab for Sanders and company. Russell spent one season with the Horned Frogs and redshirted which allows him to enter the portal with four seasons of eligibility remaining.
Wiggins spoke to On3’s Hayes Fawcett about the move saying, “The chemistry stood out. It felt like I had already been here. The atmosphere is crazy, the fanbase is crazy, and the coaching staff is phenomenal. We are going to win this year and that’s a promise.”
Coming out of high school, Russell was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 65th-ranked player. He also was listed as the 12th-ranked receiver in his class and the 11th-ranked player in the state of Texas.
Russell, a former top 100 prospect, became the Buffaloes’ 13th addition through the transfer portal this offseason, and with the portal already featuring a record number of players, that number should continue to climb for Deion Sanders’ squad.
