Texas Tech OL Jacoby Jackson Enters Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Baylor vs Texas Tech

With transfer portal season officially upon us, college football fans are beginning to witness big names from their favorite teams announce their decision to enter the portal.

Texas Tech offensive lineman Jacoby Jackson became the most recent player to enter his name in the portal after posting a heartfelt goodbye on social media Sunday afternoon.

Jackson started eight games for the Red Raiders at left guard in 2023 including the final seven games of the season heading into the 2023 Independence Bowl. While the loss for Texas Tech is big, Joey McGuire has two solid options available for replacement after landing both Vinny Sciury and Davion Carter in the transfer portal.

Coming out of high school, Jackson was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s 833rd-ranked prospect. He also was listed as the 75th-ranked tackle in the country and the 118th-ranked player in the state of Texas.

Texas Tech will now have a new spot to fill ahead of the 2024 season. Still, with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college football history, Joey McGuire should have some options available for replacement.
