Kansas State Climbs to No. 4 in Latest Women’s Basketball AP Poll
The Big 12 saw four teams make the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday after Week 11 of the season and the first seven games of conference play.
Those teams included:
Kansas State at No. 4 (No. 7 last week);
Texas at No. 10 (No. 11 last week);
Baylor at No. 13 (No. 12 last week);
West Virginia at No. 24 (not ranked last week);
Iowa State dropped out of the poll (No. 24 last week).
Kansas State (18-1, 7-0) played just one game last week, beating Kansas, 69-58. The Wildcats’ mid-week game with TCU was forfeited by the Horned Frogs. Kansas State will be at Baylor on Monday and host BYU on Saturday.
Texas (18-2, 5-2) won both of its games last week, beating Kansas, 91-56, and Oklahoma State, 76-66. Texas will host Oklahoma on Wednesday and Cincinnati on Saturday.
Baylor (15-2, 4-2) was off during the week but beat UCF at home, 77-74, last Saturday. The Bears host Kansas State on Monday and then travel to Oklahoma State on Sunday.
West Virginia (16-2, 5-2) defeated Houston, 80-39, and Cincinnati, 72-43, last week. In both games the Mountaineers held the Cougars and Bearcats scoreless in the first quarter. The Mountaineers are off until Saturday when they host Iowa State.
Iowa State (12-5, 6-1) lost its only game last week, as it fell to Texas Tech, 71-63. The Cyclones’ expected weekend game with TCU was forfeited by the Horned Frogs. Iowa State travels to Kansas on Wednesday and to West Virginia on Saturday.
