Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs are losing a key member of their coaching staff, with running backs coach Anthony Jones accepting a new job at USC.

Jones was hired as the Horned Frogs running backs coach and run game coordinator in 2022 and was a key piece of TCU’s National Championship run.

In his two seasons with the Horned Frogs, Jones helped develop third-round pick Kendre Miller and 2024 NFL Draft prospect Emani Bailey, who both recorded more than 1200 rushing yards as the featured back in Ft. Worth. Miller went on to be selected by the New Orleans Saints after a stellar season that ended with First-Team All-Big 12 honors and was listed as a Doak Walker Award Semifinalist.

Prior to accepting the job at TCU, Jones spent time in the same position with the Memphis Tigers. After developing NFL running backs like Kenneth Gainwell, Antonio Gibson, Tony Pollard, and Darrell Henderson and helping Memphis record bowl appearances in each of his three seasons with the program, Jones was asked to speak at the AFCA 35 Under 35 Leadership Institute as well as the 2022 NCAA and NFL Coaches Academy.

Needless to say, the loss of Anthony Jones at TCU is a big one and will now open the door for Sonny Dykes and his coaching staff to help find another gem in the coaching room to pick up where last season left off.
