Porter Moser Doubles Down Against DePaul Rumors
Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser has consistently denied any plans to leave the program for DePaul, and that trend continued on Tuesday.
Despite releasing a post on social media Monday night silencing doubters, Moser was asked on Tuesday for his thoughts on the opening which prompted another denial from the Sooners head coach.
Moser spoke on the situation saying, “I’ve addressed it twice now. I don’t know how many more times I have to address it.”
The Tuesday update follows Monday’s post on X which read, “Heard all the rumors this afternoon and want to say emphatically There is zero truth,” on the topic of multiple reports suggesting he’s interesting in going back to the Chicago area and coaching in the Big East
Much of the buzz regarding Moser’s connection to DePaul stems from a recent article from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, who shared that Moser has some interest in the job opening.
“The most intriguing speculation centers around Oklahoma’s Porter Moser, a native of the Chicago suburbs who spent a decade at Loyola Chicago,” Borzello wrote. “Talks aren’t as advanced as social media would lead you to believe, but there’s interest, and DePaul has expressed it would be willing to pay Moser’s buyout, around $6.5 million, sources told ESPN.”
Despite the ongoing rumors, Moser and the Sooners will take the court next on Wednesday, March 13th, against the TCU Horned Frogs in the second round of the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
