The biggest guest picker of ESPN’s College GameDay, arguably ever, will be on location for the Big 12 game on Saturday between Texas Tech and BYU. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be the guest picker for the Top 10 matchup.
College GameDay made the announcement on Friday morning on social media.
Mahomes starred at Texas Tech from 2014-16 before being selected 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. During his collegiate career, he racked up 11,252 passing yards and 93 touchdowns for the Red Raiders.
With Kansas City, he’s led the franchise to three Super Bowl titles and earned two NFL MVP honors.
No. 7 BYU hits the road to face No. 8 Texas Tech in a high-stakes showdown with College Football Playoff implications and major ramifications in the Big 12 title race.
BYU enters the battle at 8-0, riding high after dominant wins over Iowa State and No. 23 Utah. Texas Tech, meanwhile, sits at 7-1, with its lone loss coming against Arizona State, a game played without star quarterback Behren Morton.
Since then, the Red Raiders have bounced back with impressive wins over Oklahoma State and Kansas State.
The game will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday on ABC.
