Super Bowl champion Warren Sapp, a former Colorado Buffaloes staffer, was investigated for alleged battery following an incident at a Florida senior care facility in May, according to a new report by TMZ.
The Apopka Police Department responded to an incident where a female employee claimed Warren “became verbally hostile” and alleged came into contact with the employee’s wrist while the ex-NFL star pressed for “records and answers” regarding insurance, according to the story by TMZ.
Police allegedly attempted to reach Sapp but never heard back, according to the report. Prosecutors ultimately declined to file charges against the former Big 12 coach. Sapp previously served as Colorado’s senior quality control analyst in 2024, and again as the team’s pass rush coordinator last season before subsequently resigned to “pursue other opportunities,” according to the school.
Colorado was Sapp’s first coaching gig after his playing career ended nearly two decades ago with the Oakland Raiders. After his college career at Miami (Florida), Sapp helped Jon Gruden and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win Super Bowl XXXVII, 48-21, over none other than the Raiders. Sapp tallied two tackles, a nine-yard sack, two passes defended and forced a fumble away from Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon.
With Sapp’s resignation earlier this year and defensive coordinator Robert Livingston leaving for a position with the Denver Broncos, Deion Sanders tapped Virginia Tech DC Chris Marve for the same position.
