Kansas State has added another piece to its future recruiting class. Malachi DeWayne Johnson announced on Wednesday that he has committed to Kansas State, giving the Wildcats another prospect to build around moving forward in the Class of 2028.
“With great gratitude, I’m excited to announce that I am officially committing to @KState!” Johnson wrote on social media. “Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey and helped me get to this point. I’m truly grateful for the support, guidance, and belief along the way.”
Johnson’s commitment gives Kansas State another recruiting win as the Wildcats continue working to build their future roster.

For Kansas State, keeping the recruiting pipeline moving remains especially important as college football’s roster-building landscape continues to change. The transfer portal has become a major part of constructing a team, but developing high school prospects remains a key piece of the Wildcats’ approach.
Johnson is 6’3”, 215 pounds and currently an unranked prospect out of St. Louis, where he attends Lift for Life Academy Charter High School.
His announcement also comes as Kansas State works through the 2026 season under first-year head coach Collin Klein, who is putting his own stamp on the program after taking over for Chris Klieman.
Now Johnson becomes one of the players Kansas State can build around in a future recruiting class as Klein and his staff continue establishing their vision for the Wildcats. Johnson is the second commitment for Klein in the Class of 2028, joining Derby, Kansas linebacker Taylen Washington, a three-star prospect listed at 6’1”, 195 pounds.
