Former TCU safety Jacob Fields has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury stemming from an August locker room altercation with wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma.
According to Brett McMurphy, Fields turned himself in to authorities in Tarrant County, Texas, on Sunday morning. The charge comes more than two weeks after an August 13 incident involving Fields and Ezukanma inside the TCU locker room.
Fields allegedly struck Ezukanma during the altercation, resulting in injuries that led to the aggravated assault charge.
TCU dismissed Fields from the football program on August 15, just two days after the incident. At the time, the Horned Frogs announced that Fields had been removed from the team for a violation of team rules.
The situation became public in the days that followed, with Ezukanma eventually addressing the altercation himself.
Fields’ arrest now adds a significant legal development to an incident that had already resulted in the end of his time with the Horned Frogs.
Fields joined TCU after beginning his college career at Northwestern. The defensive back transferred to Fort Worth ahead of the 2025 season and appeared in 11 games for the Horned Frogs last fall, primarily contributing on special teams.
In what has turned out to be a brutal month of August for TCU, the Horned Frogs have dealt with this locker room fight, revoking credentials from local media, and then Saturday’s Week 0 loss to UNC.
Fields’ case will now move through the legal process in Tarrant County following his Sunday surrender to authorities.
