The NCAA Tournament is set and will tip-off this week as six teams from the Big 12 Conference have a chance to call themselves national champions come April.
Naturally, some teams are set up better for a tournament run than others, and two teams from the Big 12 are among the nation’s best when it comes to odds to cut down the nets in New Orleans.
Here is a look at each Big 12 team’s odds to win the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, courtesy of BetOnline.ag.
- Baylor – 11/1
- Kansas – 14/1
- Texas Tech – 28/1
- Texas – 75/1
- Iowa State – 500/1
- TCU – 500/1
Despite losing to Oklahoma the last time that we saw them, Baylor leads the way for the Big 12 with 11/1 odds to be the last team standing in New Orleans. Not far behind them are the Big 12 Tournament champion Kansas Jayhawks at 14/1 odds. Both the Bears and Jayhawks were juggernauts this season, each earning one-seeds after coming out as regular-season co-champions in the toughest basketball conference in America.
Texas Tech has the 12th-best odds to win it all at 28/1, and I would bet that Mark Adams will take those odds any day with how his team is playing defensively. Texas, a team that was bounced earlier than expected in the Big 12 tournament, is a six-seed that will face an 11-seeded Virginia Tech team that just stormed through the ACC tournament. The Longhorns come in with 75/1 odds to take it all home but will face a tough test right out the gate.
Iowa State and TCU are much further down the list than the previously listed schools and are viewed as longshots at 500/1. Both teams have difficult roads, as TCU will likely have to face Arizona in the second round if they can beat Seton Hall, while Iowa State opens up with a dangerous LSU team in the first round.
