Kansas men’s basketball has a strong history of adding Gatorade Players of the Year to its program, and next season’s team will be no different.
Gradey Dick from Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kansas, will head to Lawrence for the 2022-23 season and has just been named a finalist for 2021-2022 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year. He is joined as a finalist by Duke commit Dariq Whitehead and Kentucky commit Chris Livingston.
Being named a finalist means that Dick has now won two state Gatorade POTY Awards; he won his first while at Wichita Collegiate School in 2019-20.
According to ESPN, Dick is the eighth overall prospect in the class of 2022, with a 93 scout grade as a small forward. Listed at 6-7, 200-pounds, Dick possesses a strong basketball IQ and is a great shooter for his size. He is rated as the third-best player at his position in the class, behind Dariq Whitehead (mentioned above), and Texas commit Dillon Mitchell.
This is not the only national honor that Dick has received this year, as he was also named to the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Roster.
