2024’s No. 1 Texas Recruit Colin Simmons Plans Return to Oklahoma

NCAA Football: Baylor at Oklahoma

Colin Simmons, Duncanville EDGE and the top overall recruit in 2024, visited Norman, Oklahoma over the weekend for the Sooners’ spring game.

The electricity in Memorial Stadium made headlines around college football circles this weekend, and apparently, it left an impression on the five-star defensive talent as well.

On Saturday evening, Simmons reached out via Twitter to let Sooner Nation know that it won’t be the last time he is on campus in Norman.

The top 2024 prospect in the state of Texas according to Rivals, 247Sports, and On3 is heavy Oklahoma lean at the moment, with an 89% chance that he lands with the Sooners according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

OU’s new defensive staff, primarily the presence of Brent Venables is certainly a factor in Simmons’ interest in Oklahoma.

“They’ve been in contact calling me almost every day and getting the entire coaching staff on the phone,” Simmons told On3’s Sam Spiegelman. “They told me about how they’d set up the whole schedule for me when I was down there, about how the defense would be set up for me and the linebackers, and how the plays set up the linebackers and the D-ends.”
