Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners got a little bit of good news on the recruiting trail Monday afternoon as 2023 three-star athlete Kade McIntyre announced his commitment to the Crimson and Cream.

McIntyre, a native of Fremont, Nebraska, is listed as the No. 3 overall player in the state of Nebraska in 2023 according to 247Sports.

With a 6-4, 205-pound frame, McIntyre has a wide skillset and plays tight end and linebacker at Archbishop Bergan High School.

McIntyre announced his commitment to the Sooners on Monday afternoon via Twitter.

McIntyre chose Oklahoma over several other Division I offers, including Kansas State, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee, Minnesota, and North Dakota State.

For a while, it seemed that McIntyre was headed to Manhattan to be a Wildcat, but clearly he felt good about being a Sooner following his visit to Norman over the weekend.

McIntyre’s commitment gives Oklahoma six pledges in the 2023 class, which has them currently ranked 31st nationally.

Brent Venables’ approach to recruiting will have the Sooners’ pledge total remain low until the end, as he wants players to truly be 100% committed before making their decision. So, to all weary Sooner fans out there worrying about the recruiting rankings, take a breath. As time moves along, the class will make its way back towards the top.
