Texas Basketball Lands Five-Star Forward Ron Holland

The Texas basketball program landed a huge recruit on Saturday afternoon with five-star power forward Ron Holland announcing his commitment to the Longhorns.
Holland is the top-ranked recruit in Texas. The 6-foot-8, Duncanville (Texas) High prospect picked the Longhorns over Arkansas and UCLA. He also received offers from Kentucky, Memphis, Oregon, Kansas, Auburn, Houston, and others.
He is Texas’ first commitment in the 2023 class.
According to 247Sports, Holland is not just the top recruit in Texas, he is the No. 4 power forward in the class and the No. 12 overall player.
On his commitment, Holland told On3Sports, “I chose Texas because I feel it’s the best fit and I can accomplish my goals on and off the court,” Holland said to On3. “The bonus is that it’s home for me. They will be losing a lot of guys so that gives me a bigger opportunity to go there and get done what I need to get done.”
Holland averaged 15.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.0 steals per game as a junior. His sophomore season was his breakout season for the Panthers averaging 13.8 points and 10.1 rebounds.
The No. 7 Longhorns kick off their season on Monday night at home against UTEP.
