Three Big 12 Basketball Stars on Jerry West Top 10 List
Baylor’s Adam Flagler and Keyonte George, along with Kansas’ Gradey Dick, are on the 2023 Jerry West Top 10 List, the award given to the nation’s best shooting guard.
Flagler, along with Kansas guard Kevin McCullar Jr., was on the original watch list. George and Dick have joined the Top 10 list after their play this season.
Flagler is averaging 15.5 points and 5.0 assists per game and shooting 42.1 percent from the 3-point line for the Bears, who are No. 14 in the country entering their game on Wednesday against Oklahoma. George, a freshman, is averaging 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists this season. Many anticipate that George will declare for the NBA Draft after the season.
The same could be said for Dick, another true freshman in the midst of a great season. He’s coming off a 21-point game against Texas and is averaging 14.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game this season.
The winner of the 2023 Jerry West Award will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the other four members of the Men’s Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Bob Cousy Award (Point Guard), Julius Erving Award (Small Forward), Karl Malone Award (Power Forward), and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award (Center), in addition to the Women’s Starting Five.
Previous winners of the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award are Johnny Davis, Wisconsin (2022), Chris Duarte, Oregon (2021), Myles Powell, Seton Hall (2020), RJ Barrett, Duke (2019), Carsen Edwards, Purdue (2018), Malik Monk, Kentucky (2017), Buddy Hield, Oklahoma (2016) and D’Angelo Russell, Ohio State (2015).
