Oklahoma OL Aaryn Parks Enters Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Big 12 Championship-Baylor vs Oklahoma

Oklahoma reserve offensive lineman Aaryn Parks has entered the Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz.

Parks, a member of the 2020 recruiting class, was rated as a four-star prospect out of Seat Pleasant (MD) and the No. 12 offensive guard in the cycle.

Listed at 6-4, 300 pounds, Parks exhibits the ideal size to play at the Power Five level, but could just never secure a starting role for the Sooners.

In his first two seasons at Oklahoma Parks never saw the field, which isn’t surprising if you are familiar with Sooners’ offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh. However, after two years of development, Parks found the field in 2022, appearing in five games for Oklahoma in Brent Venables’ first season.

Parks saw limited action against UTEP, Kent State, Iowa State, and Baylor, but never saw more than 10 snaps in any of those games. However, in the Sooners’ bowl game against Florida State, Parks got a real opportunity.

When OT Jacob Sexton went down with injury, Parks was thrust into a large role, playing 87 snaps at right tackle in the Sooners’ 35-32 loss in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Parks was projected as the backup right tackle for Oklahoma in 2023, behind starter Tyler Guyton, leaving OU with a bit of a question mark at the position.

Parks, a redshirt junior, will need to secure a waiver to be eligible to play in 2023, given that he entered the transfer portal outside of the NCAA window.
