Kansas State Lands 2024 Four-Star OL Navarro Schunke

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Texas Tech

Chris Klieman’s recruitment hot streak continued as the Kansas State Wildcats landed their fourth prospect in the last two weeks with the commitment of four-star offensive lineman Navarro Shunke.

Shunke is the top player in the state of South Dakota and chose to sign with the Wildcats as a walk-on over offers from Kansas, Nebraska, Tennessee, Auburn, Arizona State, and more.

Schunke is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently checks in as the nation’s 550th-ranked prospect. He is also listed as the 18th-ranked interior offensive lineman in his class as well as the top player in the state of South Dakota.

The South Dakota native spoke with GoPowercat’s Ryan Gilbert about his decision to walk on and why he chose Kansas State saying, “The people and the environment. I feel that I can have the best chance to be the best I can be with the people there and the people around me.”

While Schunke has some serious skills on the football field and is considered a top 20 IOL in the nation, Schunke is also one of the best wrestlers in the nation. The South Dakota product became the state wrestling champion in the 285-pound weight class as a sophomore in Spring 2022 after posting an undefeated 48-0 record.

The Wildcats’ newest offensive lineman will have an opportunity to watch his future team take the field in Week 10 when the Kansas State Wildcats hit the road to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns at Darrell K. Royal Stadium on November 4th at 11 AM CT.
