Cincinnati Lands FAU Transfer WR Tony Johnson
One of the Cincinnati Bearcats‘ biggest needs in the transfer portal were playmakers that could stretch the field. Scott Satterfield addressed the issue by adding former FAU wide receiver Tony Johnson through the portal.
Johnson started his career off as a walk-on with the Owls under Tom Herman, and after back-to-back productive seasons in Boca Raton, he is set to become the newest Cincinnati Bearcat on the block.
After walking on to the team back in 2022, Johnson quickly earned a spot on the FAU roster. The Florida native brought in 23 catches for 258 yards and three scores in his debut season before nearly doubling his totals as a sophomore.
Johnson was the Owls second-leading receiver in 2023 with 37 grabs for 411 yards and four scores with an average of 11.1 yards per catch.
Despite being unranked by most major recruiting services coming out of high school, Johnson put his name on the map and earned a shot at Big 12 football in 2024.
He becomes UC’s sixth addition through the transfer portal this offseason, and with the portal already housing a record number of players, Johnson will likely not be the last name off the board for Cincinnati.
