Former Baylor quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III spotlighted three Big 12 quarterbacks in his latest Heisman rankings.
Griffin, now a college football analyst for FOX, highlighted the league’s top signal-callers as legitimate contenders for college football’s most prestigious award, further showing the Big 12’s growing depth at the position in 2025.
Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson landed at No. 4, followed by Texas Tech’s Behren Morton at No. 5, while Utah’s Devon Dampier rounded out the rankings at No. 10.
Robertson delivered a statement performance in Week 2, leading Baylor to a double-overtime comeback win over an SMU team that reached the College Football Playoff last season. The Bears rallied in the second half behind Robertson’s 440-yard, five-touchdown showing.
He has already thrown for over 1,000 yards this season with 10 touchdown passes, showcasing his efficiency and playmaking ability. If Robertson maintains this level of play, he’ll remain firmly in the Heisman conversation.
No. 17 Texas Tech has been fueled by Morton, who has guided the Red Raiders to a 3-0 start with 45 or more points in every game. Morton has been remarkably efficient, throwing for 11 touchdowns against just one interception.
His best performance came last week against Oregon State, when he racked up 464 passing yards and four touchdowns.
With the Red Raiders’ elite defense, head coach Joey McGuire and his staff have a legitimate shot to contend for the Big 12 title this season.
In his first season with the No. 16 Utah Utes, Dampier has made a smooth transition to Power Five football. The dual-threat quarterback has thrown for 628 yards and seven touchdowns while also leading the team in rushing with 198 yards.
Impressively, he’s done it without committing a single interception, helping the Utes top 30 points in every game this season.
Morton and Dampier will go head-to-head this weekend as Texas Tech travels to Utah to face the Utes in a top-20 showdown.
The top three spots on the list went to Marcel Reed (Texas A&M), Carson Beck (Miami), and Tommy Castellanos (Florida State). RGIII also included Gunner Stockton (Georgia), Mario Craver (Texas A&M), Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State), and John Mateer (Oklahoma).
