Gordon’s been around a while. He’s played in 38 games during his college career and has proven he can make plays at multiple stops. Last season, he recorded 53 tackles at Louisville, showing up consistently in run support and helping hold things down over the top, but the real value in this pickup comes from his 2024 season at Baylor, where he led the Bears in interceptions. That kind of playmaking ability, paired with his tackling numbers, makes him a perfect fit for a Kansas defense that’s trying to take the next step.
This isn’t a developmental guy or a depth piece. Gordon’s coming in to start. Kansas has made real strides under Lance Leipold, but they’ve needed more veterans who’ve been through conference play and know what it takes to win those ugly Big 12 games. Gordon fits that mold.
