Tommy Lloyd is Prepared for KU Fans to ‘Be Out for Blood’ On Big Monday

NCAA Basketball: Arizona at Utah

After Arizona smoked Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon, head coach Tommy Lloyd turned his attention to a huge Big Monday match up against Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. And Lloyd made it clear he’s ready for a raucous scene in Lawrence, saying, “I have a feeling those Jayhawk fans are going to be out for blood.”

Arizona’s 2024-25 appearance in Lawrence came in the final game of the regular season, one in which the Wildcats 83-76 lost due to Hunter Dickinson matching a career high with 33 points. For Arizona, Jaden Bradley led with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting and made all seven of his free-throw attempts. Caleb Love had 16 points and Trey Townsend scored 13 off the bench.

But the following week, Arizona returned the favor in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals in Kansas City, picking up an 88-77 win. Arizona would go on to lose the Big 12 Tournament Championship to Houston 72-64.

Big Monday Match Up

It will be one of the best Big Monday match ups at Allen Fieldhouse, possibly ever, as Arizona brings in its 23-0 record to Lawrence to take on a Kansas team that has won seven in a row and will likely be in the Top 10 when the AP Poll drops on Monday.

Kansas beat Utah on Saturday 71-59 to make it seven straight. And now, Bill Self’s 38-0 Big Monday record will be on the line against the No. 1 team in the country. Arizona is 10-0 in Big 12 play, while Kansas is 8-2. A win by the Jayhawks makes the Big 12 regular season title a wide-open race.

Arizona’s upcoming stretch is four-straight against ranked teams, as Kansas is followed by Texas Tech, BYU and Houston.
