BYU fans hoping to be inside LaVell Edwards Stadium for one of the biggest home games in program history may have to pay a hefty price.
Tickets for BYU’s October 17 matchup against Notre Dame are already fetching eye-popping numbers on the secondary market, including some listings that stretch beyond $16,000 for a single seat, according to ABC4 in Salt Lake City.
Now, that doesn’t mean fans need to shell out five figures just to get into the stadium. Those are individual resale listings, and sellers can essentially ask whatever they want.
But even the cheapest options show just how much demand there is for Notre Dame’s trip to Provo.
As of this week, the get-in price on StubHub was hovering around $500. Bleacher seats were listed around $600, while some chairback seats were approaching $1,600.
That’s an enormous price tag for a regular-season college football game, but there are plenty of reasons why this matchup has become such a hot ticket.
Notre Dame hasn’t played at LaVell Edwards Stadium since 2004, when BYU knocked off the Fighting Irish 20-17. Notre Dame leads the all-time series 7-2 and has won the last four meetings between the programs.
The most recent matchup came in 2022 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, where Notre Dame beat BYU 28-20.
This year’s game also carries significantly more weight than simply bringing a national brand to Provo.
BYU and Notre Dame were both left on the outside of the College Football Playoff in 2025. Notre Dame finished No. 10 in the final AP Poll, while BYU finished No. 11 after an 11-win season and a trip to the Big 12 Championship Game.
That sets up the October showdown as a potentially massive game for the College Football Playoff resumes of both teams.
The matchup is also the beginning of a home-and-home series between the programs. BYU will return the trip and play Notre Dame in South Bend during the 2027 season.
For BYU, landing Notre Dame was a major scheduling victory after Cal backed out of its previously scheduled series with the Cougars. Instead of losing a marquee home game, BYU replaced the Golden Bears with one of the biggest brands in college football while maintaining seven home games on its 2026 schedule.
Judging by the early ticket market, Cougar fans certainly noticed.
And with two months still remaining before Notre Dame arrives in Provo, the question now is whether prices eventually settle down — or whether one of the most anticipated home games in BYU history only gets more expensive.
