Kansas quarterback Isaiah Marshall just turned what looked like a disastrous play into one of the wildest highlights of the young college football season.
During the third quarter of Friday night’s Border War matchup against No. 25 Missouri, Marshall found himself scrambling toward the Kansas sideline with the Tigers’ defense closing in. Just before stepping out of bounds, and with seemingly nowhere to go with the football, Marshall somehow managed to get a throw off down the field to keep the play alive.
It was the type of decision that could have gone horribly wrong, but Marshall found a way to make it work.
Marshall entered Friday night’s game coming off an impressive debut as Kansas’ new starting quarterback. But facing Missouri represented a much different challenge for the Jayhawks and their new-look offense.
And if nothing else, Marshall showed on this play exactly why there’s been plenty of excitement surrounding his potential in Lawrence.
The Border War returned to Kansas for the first time since 2005 on Friday night, with the Jayhawks looking to make an early-season statement against a ranked SEC opponent.
Marshall certainly provided one of the game’s first viral highlights.
