ESPN College GameDay is officially heading back to Provo. ESPN announced Saturday that College GameDay will broadcast live from BYU ahead of the Cougars’ massive Week 7 matchup against Notre Dame on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The matchup will feature two undefeated top-10 teams, with No. 8 BYU entering the game at 5-0 and No. 3 Notre Dame at 6-0. The Cougars improved to 5-0 with a 24-10 win over Iowa State on Friday night, while the Fighting Irish rolled past Stanford 58-7 on Saturday.
College GameDay’s BYU History
It will mark only the second time College GameDay has ever visited Provo and the first since Oct. 24, 2009, when BYU hosted TCU.
This time, the stakes will be even higher.
BYU and Notre Dame will play the first matchup between two top-10 teams ever held in Provo. Notre Dame will also be the highest-ranked opponent to visit LaVell Edwards Stadium since No. 1 USC came to town in 2004.
College GameDay’s three-hour show will air from BYU’s campus from 7-10 a.m. MT, although the specific location on campus has not yet been announced.
The game itself will kick off at 5:30 p.m. MT (6:30 p.m. CT) and air nationally on ABC.
Notre Dame leads the all-time series against BYU 7-2, with the Irish winning the most recent meeting 28-20 in Las Vegas in 2022. But the last time Notre Dame traveled to Provo, BYU pulled off a 20-17 victory in 2004.
Now, more than two decades later, Notre Dame is returning to Provo with an undefeated record, BYU is undefeated itself, and the biggest pregame show in college football will be there for one of the biggest games in recent BYU history.
