Well, that didn’t take long.
When the opening Big 12 betting lines for Week 4 were released, perhaps the biggest eye-opener was Utah opening as an 11.5-point road favorite against Iowa State.
Yes, Utah laying double digits in Ames.
But less than 24 hours later, the betting market has moved significantly toward the Cyclones.
According to Chris Williams of Cyclone Fanatic, some sportsbooks had moved the line all the way down to Utah -7.5, a four-point swing from the opening number.
That’s a substantial move this early in the week, especially considering there hasn’t been an obvious public explanation for it.
Is it heavy betting action on Iowa State? Is there injury news being factored into the number? Or did sportsbooks simply open the line too high and quickly adjust?
For now, we don’t have a definitive answer. But it’s certainly something worth monitoring throughout the week.
And even after the four-point adjustment, Vegas is still showing plenty of respect for Utah. The Utes remain more than a touchdown favorite on the road in Ames in a conference game.
That matchup isn’t the only notable Big 12 line for Week 4, either.
Texas Tech opened as a massive 36.5-point favorite against Sam Houston, while Baylor is favored by more than a touchdown against Colorado. TCU is also a road favorite at UCF, while Kansas State opened as a sizable favorite at Cincinnati.
