The Big 12 has four teams ranked in the latest AP Top 25 following a wild Week 2 across college football.
BYU leads the way for the conference, moving up four spots from No. 15 to No. 11 following its win over Arizona in the first Big 12 conference game of the season. Texas Tech remains at No. 13, while Utah climbed three spots from No. 20 to No. 17. Houston rounds out the Big 12 contingent at No. 22.
However, one of the biggest stories in the entire poll came courtesy of an unranked Big 12 team.
Oklahoma State stunned No. 6 Oregon 39-31 in Stillwater on Saturday, sending the Ducks tumbling 15 spots to No. 21. Oregon’s loss came one week after Oklahoma State fell 24-10 to Tulsa, making the Cowboys’ upset one of the most surprising results of the young college football season. Oklahoma State was 4th in the “receiving votes” portion with 36 total votes, trailing Washington, Florida and Boise State.
The Big 12’s four ranked teams trail the SEC, which leads the country with nine, and the Big Ten with seven. The ACC also has four teams in the Top 25.
Looking ahead, the Big 12 will have its first ranked conference matchup of the season next weekend when No. 22 Houston travels to No. 13 Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have won 12 of the last 13 meetings between the programs.
