Utah defensive tackle Jamal Wallace has been suspended indefinitely from the football program following his arrest earlier this month on multiple felony charges stemming from allegations of sexual assault and the distribution of intimate images.
According to police documents, Wallace was arrested on Oct. 11 after a woman reported that he sexually assaulted her during an encounter at a residence in Salt Lake City. The woman told investigators the two had been discussing their relationship when Wallace allegedly forced sexual contact despite her objections.
The woman told police she attempted to resist and repeatedly tried to stop the encounter, but Wallace continued against her will, according to the probable cause affidavit. According to KSL reporter Josh Furlong, “The woman said the two were on the couch having a conversation about “infidelity and their relationship” when he suddenly grabbed her head and forced her to perform oral sex on him, according to a probable cause statement.
She also alleged that Wallace recorded portions of the encounter without her consent.
Investigators later determined that videos of the incident had been shared through Snapchat. Police said the videos were found on the woman’s account and indicated that the phone used to record the footage was in Wallace’s possession at the time. Authorities subsequently arrested Wallace on five counts of distribution of an intimate image.
Following the arrest, Utah officials announced that Wallace had been placed on an indefinite suspension from the football program.
“We were made aware of the situation with Jamal Wallace on Oct. 11 and he was immediately placed on an indefinite suspension from the program,” the university said in a statement. “We take these matters seriously. As this is a pending legal matter we have no further comment at this time.”
Wallace joined Utah ahead of the 2026 season after transferring from Tennessee, where he spent two seasons. The senior defensive lineman appeared in one game for the Utes this season, logging snaps in the team’s season opener against Idaho before serving primarily in a reserve role.
The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against Wallace have not been adjudicated in court.
On the field, Utah is set to host Houston this weekend in a huge Week 8 match up in the Big 12 Conference.
