Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis is “recovering” from a medical emergency at a school athletic facility on Wednesday, according to a statement released by his family early Thursday morning.
“Yesterday, Julian experienced a medical emergency at the University of Colorado athletic facility and was promptly transported to the hospital,” the statement, posted by T. Carlton Lewis, Julian’s father, said. “He is recovering and thankful to his medical team, teammates, and Colorado fans for their prayers and support. Please respect Julian and the Lewis family’s privacy. We will have no further comment at this time.”
MORE: Deion Sanders Gives Ominous Answer About Julian Lewis After Texas Tech Loss
Lewis, listed as “doubtful” on Colorado’s latest injury report ahead of this weekend’s Kansas State game in Boulder, hasn’t appeared in a game since a 23-13 loss at Baylor in late September. Before the medical incident, Deion Sanders briefly discussed the possibility of Lewis returning to action this weekend against the Wildcats.
Isaac Wilson has taken over QB1 reps since that Baylor game with Lewis sidelined. Now, it appears that’ll be the case for the foreseeable future. Lewis opened the season as Colorado’s starter, but by the Texas Tech game he’d been seemingly demoted beneath Wilson and perhaps further.
The Buffaloes are a 1.5-point favorite this weekend against Kansas State, as Sanders and company search for Colorado’s first Big 12 win of the season.
