K-State’s Joshua Youngblood enters NCAA Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Texas Tech

Kansas State’s football season is off to an impressive start, sitting at 3-0 in the Big 12, but for the second time this week, the Wildcats have some unwanted news.

According to 247Sports, All-American kick returner Joshua Youngblood has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Youngblood was named a First Team All-American kick returner, First Team All-Big 12 returner and the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year. Prior to the season, he was named to the Heartland College Sports All-Big 12 team at punt returner and kick returner.

However, Youngblood got off to a slow start this season. In the first four games of the season, he only played in two games with zero catches. He also had three kick returns for 54 yards but no scores.

This was a far cry from last season when he averaged 35.9 yards per kickoff and led the nation with three kickoff-return touchdowns. Youngblood became the first true freshman in history to be named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year.

Kansas State has a bye week this week before taking on the Kansas Jayhawks next Saturday in Manhattan for an 11:00 a.m. kick off.
