Report: Notre Dame Zeroing in on Hiring Iowa State DC Jon Heacock

NCAA Football: Fiesta Bowl-Oregon vs Iowa State

It has been a wild offseason in the world of college football. Between the coaching carousel and players transferring, it has been absolutely crazy.

While the last football game of the season has already taken place, that doesn’t mean the coaching carousel has stopped. Moves are continuing to happen each and every day and there now is a report linking one of the best defensive coordinators in college football potentially being on the move.

FootballScoop has reported that Notre Dame is zeroing in on making Iowa State defensive coordinator Jon Heacock their own. Their sources have confirmed that Jon Heacock spent Tuesday in South Bend, Indiana on the Notre Dame campus.

Jon is from the state of Ohio and was the former head coach at Football Championship Subdivision power Youngstown State. Heacock has spent the last six seasons with Matt Campbell at Iowa State where he has become one of the best defensive minds in all of college football.

Per FootballScoop’s sources, Heacock’s visit to Notre Dame left the Irish extremely impressed. Obviously, some decisions still have to be made but there is a strong possibility that Iowa State could be looking for a new defensive coordinator sooner rather than later.
