Texas Leads Five Big 12 Teams in Women’s AP Top 25

The Texas Longhorns moved into the Top 10 of the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25 poll after winning both of its games last week.

Meanwhile, the Baylor Bears moved up, the Iowa State Cyclones and the Oklahoma Sooners moved down and Kansas State entered the poll for the second time this season.

The ranked Big 12 teams include:


Texas at No. 9 (the Longhorns were No. 15 last week).

Baylor at No. 11 (the Bears were No. 15 last week).

Iowa State at No. 13 (the Cyclones were No. 7 last week).

Oklahoma at No. 18 (the Sooners were No. 14 last week).

Kansas State at No. 25 (the Wildcats were not ranked last week).

Kansas received one vote.

Iowa State (16-3, 5-2) finally lost its first Big 12 game, losing 66-48 to Texas. The Cyclones followed that with a loss to Baylor. ISU lost to Texas without both Ashley and Aubrey Joens. Ashley returned for the Baylor game and scored 17 points. This week, the Cyclones host Kansas on Wednesday and travel to Texas Tech on Saturday.  

Oklahoma (16-2, 5-1) started last week with a 88-76 win over West Virginia, and then followed that with a loss to Kansas State, a game in which the Wildcats’ Ayoka Lee set an NCAA Division I record with 61 points. The Sooners are at home all week, hosting Oklahoma State on Wednesday and then hosting Texas on Saturday.  

Texas (14-3, 4-2) won both games last week, beating Iowa State, 66-48, and TCU, 68-47. Texas returns home to host Kansas State on Saturday, followed by a trip to Oklahoma on Saturday.  

Baylor (12-4, 2-2) started last week with a 67-49 win over Oklahoma State, followed by its win over Iowa State. The Bears are on the road all this week, facing Texas Tech on Wednesday and then West Virginia on Saturday.  

Kansas State (15-4, 5-2) is back in the Top 25 after a one-week absence. The Wildcats are coming off their huge win over Oklahoma. The Wildcats are at Texas on Wednesday, giving them a chance to try and knock off a second straight ranked team.

The entire poll featured No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 NC State, No. 4 Tennessee, No. 5 Louisville, No. 6 Indiana, No. 7 Michigan, No. 8 Arizona, No. 9 Texas, No. 10 UConn, No. 11 Baylor, No. 12 LSU, No. 13 Iowa State, No. 14 Georgia Tech, No. 15 Georgia, No. 16 BYU, No 17 Maryland, No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 19 Oregon, No. 20 Notre Dame, No. 21 Duke, No. 22 Ohio State, No. 23 Iowa, No. 24 Ole Miss and No. 25 Kansas State.
