Around seven months after being dismissed from the Jacksonville Jaguars as their head coach, Urban Meyer is making his return to the world of college football as he will rejoin the cast of FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff.
According to a press released from FOX Sports, Urban will join Rob Stone, Brady Quinn, Reggie Bush, and Matt Leinart once again and will hit the road this fall. FOX also used the release to announce that for the first time ever, Big Noon Kickoff will travel during each week of the season to preview the week’s best matchups from campuses around the country.
Meyer, who spent 17 years as a college football coach spent just 13 games in the NFL as the Jaguars coach, culminating a 2-11 record. Controversy surrounding Meyer and his coaching tactics started to rise as the three-time national champion head coach continually shifted the blame for his team’s inadequacies to other coaches and players.
Earlier in the season a video surfaced of a young woman, who was not Meyer’s wife, dancing on Meyer’s lap in a Ohio bar. Meyer had declined to take the team plane back after a Week 4 loss to Cincinnati and instead stuck around to enjoy the local company. Even after the Jags stuck with him through that controversy, Meyer’s tactics never shifted, leading to his dismissal.
Perhaps Meyer is better suited for television at this point in his life and not on the sidelines. Here’s to hoping that is the case.
