Brock Purdy to Have Elbow Surgery on Friday; Six-Month Rehab Expected

Brock Purdy is officially set to have surgery following a disappointing elbow injury to end the 2023 NFL season.
Purdy was told to wait and see if the inflammation around his UCL would improve before getting the surgery done but following a meeting with Dr. Keith Meister Purdy’s surgery has been scheduled for Friday, March 10th.
“We want the best outcome. And that’s where Dr. Meister made a really tough decision and we’re very appreciative. He’s done thousands of these surgeries and when you have all the swelling out, when you have all the stiffness out, is when he’s had the best success with the outcomes. And so, we’re very thankful and we’re hopeful that when they meet down in Arizona this week they can move forward and then it would be early next week as to when they would go in there and have the surgery,” John Lynch told media members on Tuesday.
The former Iowa State Cyclone had one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history after stepping in for the injured Jimmy Garappollo, and after leading his team through the playoffs, Purdy’s season came to an unfortunate end in the NFC Championship game against the Philidelphia Eagles.
The San Fransico 49ers have a major problem looming above their heads with no healthy quarterbacks on their roster at the moment. With Brock Purdy’s elbow injury requiring surgery, and last year’s first-round pick Trey Lance nursing a broken ankle the 49ers are in desperate need of help.
The NFL Draft kicks off on April 27th in Kansas City, and with San Fransico’s track record of stellar quarterback play in Kyle Shannahan’s offense, many believe the Niners will be looking for a quarterback to steer the ship until they can get Lance or Purdy back from injury.
