BYU Fans Forced to Remove ‘Horns Down’ Shirts vs. Texas
A group of BYU students with painted shirts that read “Horns Down” across the front were asked to remove their shirts ahead of Saturday’s matchup against Texas.
The Horns Down saying and signal have made rounds on social media over the past few weeks after Texas head coach Rodney Terry decided to bash UCF for throwing up the sign in celebration.
While the fans may have had to remove their shirts ahead of the game, BYU fans got their chance to throw up the horns down sign after the Cougars cruised to an 84-72 win over Texas.
In the matchup, the duo of Noah Waterman and Jaxson Robinson was lethal with the pair combining for 36 points. Mark Pope’s team sent five scorers into double digits including Waterman, Robinson, Spencer Johnson, Fousseyni Traore, and Richie Saunders.
It was less than two weeks ago when Texas head coach Rodney Terry elected to criticize UCF for their “classless” behavior following the team’s upset win over Texas, mentioning that other teams shouldn’t, “Jump up and down like [they] won a national championship.” Terry then did exactly that and jumped up and down like he won a national championship just three days later celebrating a buzzer-beater win against Baylor.
While glass houses aren’t an easy place to throw stones from, (ask Rodney Terry how well that worked out), BYU fans showed up and supported their team against Texas en route to a massive win in Big 12 Conference play.
