Former Houston WR Sam Brown Commits to Miami

Houston’s Samuel Brown, one of the most promising young wideouts in the Big 12, has announced he will play for Mario Cristobal and the Miami (FL) Hurricanes in 2024.

Cristobal’s squad has been incredibly active in the transfer portal this cycle, with Brown joining Oregon State running back Damien Martinez, Louisville linebacker Jaylin Alderman, and Marshall cornerback Dyani Hill.

According to 247Sports, Brown was listed as a four-star transfer and a four-star prospect out of Bloomington, Georgia, as a high schooler.

Brown was a major contributor for the Cougars in 2023 and was expected to be a focal point of the offense before he entered the transfer portal.

As a junior, Brown caught 62 passes for 815 yards and three touchdowns in 2023. Listed at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Brown appears to be someone who will start for the Hurricanes in 2024 and will be one of their most exciting newcomers.

With Washington State quarterback Cam Ward stepping in, the Hurricanes should have elite quarterback play and have put quite the group of playmakers around him for next season.

As for Houston, the Cougars will have to find someone else to be their main contributor in the passing game, but with Willie Fritz building out the roster there, success will come sooner or later.
